The Apple of God's Eye
In these last days, we need to have a proper understanding of Israel and the Jewish people. This question was asked to the apostle Paul. "Did God reject or cast away His people?" The answer is found in scriptures.
It says, "God forbid" or "By no means". "God did not reject His people whom He forknew". Romans 11:2 So, how will God save His people, Israel, whom He forknew? The answer is Grace. " So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace." Romans 11:5-6 Right now, Israel is looking for peace and safety. They look to the nations for that peace, but only God can them the peace they desire.
First of all, the birth of Israel, in 1948, after years without a nation is truly a miracle. Driven out of their land by the Romans in 70AD, the Jews return to their land in 1948, as a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. The Bible states, "Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children." Isaiah 66:8 People try to replace Israel with the Church, but God promised the Jewish people their own land. God said," And I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them,.. And I will plant them upon their land which I have given them saith the Lord thy God." Amos 9:14-15 God will fulfill His promises. All of them! It is important to know that salvation will come to the Jewish people. It was the apostle Paul's prayer to God for his Jewish brothers or Israel. Paul said, "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved." Romans 10:1. Salvation is through faith in Christ, alone! "For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:12-13. Israel will call upon the Lord in these last days. At this present time, blindness is upon Israel. However, God made a unconditional covenant with His people that He will not break. The apostle Paul states, " For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits, that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my convenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. Romans 11:25-27
So, with these promises, we can know that God has a plan, and that plan is taking place before our eyes. Lets declare with Paul, " O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God"
First of all, God's plan for Israel is amazing. God will reveal Himself to the world through them, and comforts them when they rebel. "Comfort ye, comfort ye, my people, saith your God. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins." Isaiah 40:1-2. Israel has been rebellious toward God. It is like have a child who will not listen or obey and continues to get in trouble. We still love them, and want what is best for them. That is to turn away from the lusts of the world, and back toward God. However, Israel has been stubborn, as we all can relate to. " For the Lord comforts His people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones. But Zion said, 'the Lord has forsaken me..' Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands." Isaiah 49:13-16 Israel has had to pay for her sins because of their rebellion toward God. But now, God is going to draw His people back. God says, " For a small moment I abandoned you, ( Remember 1,000 years is as a day),..but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer." Isaiah 54:7-8. God will have mercy on Israel, whom He loves!
Right now, we are seeing a Second Exodus. It is another miracle, and it is bringing the Jewish people back to their promised land. God said," Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that it shall no more be said, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; But, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands, whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers." Jeremiah 16:14-15. Jews from Russia, the north, are pouring into the land of Israel by the thousands every day. It has been called the Second Exodus because of the number of people coming in is more than the number when God used Moses to bring them out of Eygpt.
In conclusion, what can the church do to help Israel?
The scripture says, "You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest(pray continually) till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth." Isaiah 62:6-7. We need to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and use our resources to help them, who are surrounded by their enemies. Israel, God's "super sign" of the end times is a clear indication that time is growing shorter with each passing hour. With what we already seen, we can be assured that God is now preparing the world for the final events leading up to the Second Coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!
God Bless!
